HOOVER, Ala. - LSU is not defending its national title - not according to coach Les Miles.

Guest Commentary: Cougars should continue pioneering path

The Daily Cougar, University of Houston, TX

Turn your television to any sports channel and you will see athletes of all ethnicities competing against each other. Diversity in sports is something we take for granted today, but I'm old enough to remember when segregation was the norm. I'm also old enough to remember how the University of Houston played a pivotal role in breaking color barriers in college sports.

Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night is often referred to as a party with "90,000 of your closest friends."

But some students opposed to the changes to student ticket policies said they now feel divorced from the rest of the LSU fanbase.

"It really has kind of diminished the sense of community that we had felt," said Rusty Ware, full-time graduate student in kinesiology.

'Dark Knight' is human, not divine

Daily Reveille, Louisiana State University A&M, LA

11 hours ago by Freke Ette

As "The Dark Knight" made more than $160 million over the weekend, one can wonder what created the buzz for the film. Was it carried over from expectant fans who loved Heath Ledger's star turns in "Candy" and "I'm Not There," or could it be the result of Christian Bale's roles in "3:10 to Yuma" or maybe Nolan's "The Prestige"? If the hype for "The Dark Knight" came not from any of the cast's or director's films, but from the death of Ledger, it speaks volumes about how society relates to film culture and celebrity deaths.

Signe Cluiss: What is that bacteria in that petri dish you have in your hand?

Ranga Muthu: It's not bacteria. It's actually a silicon wafer sample - kind of an edged sample. I'm trying to do some fluid displacement studies.

Cluiss: What is the end goal of your project?

Muthu: I'm just trying to understand the physics of contaminants: what happens when you have an oil spill, what happens to the soil system and how it impacts the ground water.

Dark Knight review

The Battalion, Texas A&M, TX

2 days ago by Kara Koloini

The mere thought of penning a piece on a film with the amount of buzz and hype that The Dark Knight has garnered has proven to be an overwhelming prospect, to say the least. But for a film that had earned an iconic status in the realm of comic book adaptations and big budget blockbusters months before it even began filming, a project that requested so much of its A-list stars that the chilling prospect exists that it drove a young, now immortalized actor to his premature grave; and a movie that broke every box office record imaginable, the idea that the essence of such a tour de force would be difficult to articulate seems all too appropriate.
