KTRU Station Manager Joey Yang said that he invited President David Leebron, Dean of Undergraduates John Hutchinson, Vice President for Administration Kevin Kirby and Vice President for Public Affairs Linda Thrane, but Thrane and Leebron told him that they would be unable to attend.

In May of 2008, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover unveiled Shreveport's recycling program, "Just Curb It!" The next month would be the official kick-off of a $3 million campaign to revitalize recycling efforts. Shreveport households received a 65 gallon blue bin in which they were able to use for recycling, combining all of their recyclables into one bin and, along with the standard green trash bin, put out by the curb to be picked up on their regularly scheduled trash day.

A Thibodaux police officer allegedly raped a Nicholls student in her La Maison du Bayou on campus apartment early Friday morning.
Officer Corey Morris of the Thibodaux Police Department was on duty and working in downtown Thibodaux when someone approached him asking him to drive their friend, who was intoxicated and vomiting at the time, home.
