CDC looks at possibility of 'much-needed' Infirmary renovations
McNeese State University's Campus Development Committee is considering a renovation project for the Student Health Center, commonly known as the Infirmary, if the cost is reasonable, in an attempt "to better serve and provide for the needs of the students of McNeese State University," said Director of Facilities and Plant Operations Richard Rhoden.

The Office of Facilities and Plant Operations will manage the project. Presently, there is an architect who is looking into the project and will make recommendations and suggestions. Once these ideas are reviewed, a cost estimate will be determined.

Although CDC has agreed on the project, the present cost estimate is not approved. Until an agreement can be reached, it is unknown as to when the renovating will begin, how long it will last or if there will be any renovating at all.

Andrea Burton, a former CDC student member, prompted the CDC decision, and nurse supervisor Elisa Guillory gave other specifics to the committee regarding the project. According to Guillory, the problems that need to be taken care of are the bathrooms, the air conditioning and the lighting.

"We are excited about the possibility of renovations to the Student Health Center. We are hopeful that the committee will be able to make this a possibility," said Guillory.
The Student Health Center has had only a roof replacement and some minor painting and repairs over the years.
