Election 2004 has come and gone, and you may be looking for a place to celebrate your winning candidate or drink away your sorrows. Grab your designated driver and explore these night spots in and around Lake Charles. The list of bars and clubs are as endless as political candidates and even fit the various types of voters or non-voters, whatever your case may be.
Cowboys, located on Common Street, boasts a huge dance floor and is always packed, particularly after a McNeese State University football game. It has the energy and liveliness of a political convention and even advertises on MTV similar to the candidates in this recent election. Since Thursday night is "College Night," students get in free with McNeese State University IDs, and drinks are just 25 cents all night. The economics for nominating Cowboys for Thursday nights could be relevant economic factors for any university student.
For those party animals who vote for the hip-hop feel, The Mansion located on Broad Street is a likely candidate with no cover when you display your college ID before midnight on Saturdays.
Just as the political strategists in this presidential campaign sought the female voting population, area establishments offer something for the femme. Ladies night traditionally is on Wednesday night at OB's, located on Ryan Street; Daddy Jack's, also on Ryan Street; and Rikenjak's, located on Broad Street.
Remaining politically correct, Rikenjak's also offers "Men's Night" on Monday night, a novelty in itself.
Breezy's Downtown, on Ryan Street, is not to be left out of the race in polling for drinkers and provides penny pitchers from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday nights, regardless of sex; however, one should arrive early in selecting this drink special, as there is a $5.00 cover charge.
If it is an alternative platform from the traditional you are seeking, our city nominates Crystals, located downtown near the corner of Broad and Ryan Street. Crystal's is the candidate to vote for if you seek monthly drag shows, and Saturday night is lesbian night.
Another alternative platform is Annie's, south on Common Street in a small, obscure building. Annie's offers karaoke all night, which is a good laugh. Quaint and fun, Annie's was described by one of the bartenders as "just too cool."
Whether you seek relief from midterms, fast paced university life or the uproar of the recent campaign year, Lake Charles has a place for you to cast your vote.
