In what was Dave Simmons' first game as head coach of the Cowboys, McNeese led all the way, mounting a 41-31 halftime lead.
Aaron, one of only two seniors on this year's team, scored a game high 23 points and Ford chipped in with 21. Aaron connected on seven of 13 shots from the floor including a three for seven effort from three point range and added six free throws for his total. Ford was almost letter perfect in the game as he was four of six from the floor with a three of three effort from three point range and he also canned all 10 free shots he tried.
Also scoring in double figures for McNeese was junior college transfer Rorey Lawrence with 10 points and a game high 10 rebounds.
Gordon Meadors with 13 points and Cornice Wingate with 11 led Dillard. A three point shot by Aaron with 16:13 left in the first half gave McNeese the lead for good in the game. The Cowboys went up by as many as 14 points in the first half but Dillad cut the lead to 10 at intermission.
In the second half the Cowboys put on a shooting exhibition as they made 50 percent of their field goals (11 of 22), 57.1 percent of three point shots (4 of 7) and 78.6 of their free throws (11 of 14).
McNeese held a 44-29 edge in the rebound column with Lawrence's total tops. Aldryan Wardell had eight caroms for the Cowboys and Kleon Penn pulled seven. Both Penn and Lawrence had two blocked shots for the Cowboys and Ford led the way in assists with five.
McNeese will play one other exhibition game on Nov. 9 against Spring Hill in Lake Charles before opening its regular season in the Florida State Colonial Classic on Nov. 12.
