For all of you out there who just don't know what to do with yourselves since you can no longer get your football fix from the Arena League, you're in luck. Cowboy spring practices are in full swing.

The team will take to the field for the rest of March and into early April before taking the field in the annual Blue and Gold Game on April 9.

"It's been a typical first few days," said McNeese head coach Matt Viator. "We're trying to get a feel for our personnel and put in the base of our offense and defense, as well as get the guys back in a practice routine. It also allows us to see some guys in drills for the first time."

Key returnees for the Cowboys are quarterback Derrick Fourroux, who threw for over 2,000 yards last season, and running back Toddrick Pendland, who ran for 1,431 yards this past year.

The Cowboys will also be putting their revamped defense on the field for the first time. The team required 13 new defensive players, including five linemen and five defensive backs. Also joining the Cowboys is defensive lineman coach Many Michel, a 25-year coaching veteran. Upon the acquisition, Lark Hebert will now move back to coaching the linebackers while last year's linebacker coach, Mike Collins, will move to coaching the defensive backs.

The Blue and Gold Game will take place at 6 p.m. on April 9 at Cowboy Stadium. Fox 29 will also be airing the match-up live as well as a rerun on Saturday the 11th.

Also featured at the event will be a kids' zone, a skills challenge and an autograph session. Tours of the Sky Ranch will also be available for $1. Those who take the tour will get to see all that goes on during game day, from the sweets to television and radio happenings.
