This is not to damper with the amazing graphics of the film, or it's inventive use of 3D. Just don't expect to be surprised with a twisted ending or by the plot line. Expect to be taken away by the surreal graphics and intriguing mixture of unique creatures.
When Director James Cameron's film hit theaters it surpassed every movie currently out in theatres in sales. With a cast of unpopular yet talented actors this film was thoroughly crafted for a pleasant viewing experience.
H i s t o r i c a l l y nations have intruded on another's land with the intention of conquering and controlling another race or people. This film seemed to re-narrate the intrusion of Native Americans by European colonists after the arrival of Christopher Columbus.
In Avatar, the human race travels to the distant planet of Pandora in pursuit of a valuable mineral. The natives are armed with only weapons of nature and the animals that inhabit Pandora. The human race is armed with lethal firearms and advanced war vehicles.
When the natives of Pandora refuse to allow the humans to mine this mineral a war erupts. Behind the scenes of the intense war is an advanced program that humans use to transfer their consciousness to a clone of the native people of Pandora, named Avatars. The Avatars are used to achieve a diplomatic solution to the war.
Watching the movie in 3D was amazing to say the least. The environment was filled with beautiful scenery during peaceful tranquil moments and the action was pulsating and epic during the fight scenes. The cast was not very well known, however that seemed not to mirror their acting abilities.
Perhaps the only blight the film would have would be the horrible consistency that never seemed to take a second turn. Films are not in need of multiple plot line surprises and twist, in fact that can ruin films. A poster child of too many plot lines is the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Avatar could have made the movie a little less guessable though.
To make up for the lack of plot line development would be the amazing graphics and scenery that made the movie worth the watch and the money.
